
The Lotus Cortina was put together by Lotus and was an instant success with Jim Clark winning the British Saloon Car Championship in 1964, sometimes seen at speed on three wheels with the inside front hanging in mid-air.
There weren’t many built and it was a relatively easy car to build a replica of with the right body shell.
As such buying a real one takes a lot of provenance checking, is hugely expensive and really at the point where a faked one almost makes more sense and drives the same if done well. The days of buying a cheap two door Cortina to make your own are long gone.
