Ford GT 🏁

The GT was made in the mid 00’s as a tribute to Ford’s historically significant GT40, a consecutive four-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans (1966–1969), including a 1-2-3 finish in 1966.

The GT was redesigned entirely in 2017 but to my eyes (as a fan of the original 60’s car) the more modern interpretation isn’t a patch on the simple muscular elegance of the version I’ve painted here.

I actually kept hold of a source photo for this from a few years as I sketched it before in a little pocket sketchbook.

Here was the starting out point, the aim was to add details later on and the black would block out over the paint which made it’s way onto the tyre.

Once again this was on Canson card which is too absorbent for this type of painting, but it’s all a learning experience !

And here’s the finished painting. Not 100% as intended, but good for a learning experience, if I were to re-do this again then it would be either on a coloured primed backing or as a watercolour maybe.
