Plum blossom ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿƒ

This blossom only lasted a few days and it’s well on the way to disappearing for another year now.  Thought it’d be nice to do a quick capture of it in-between the longer running commission projects which I’m busy with at the moment.

This is my first coloured acrylic painting so forgive the mixing inaccuracies.  I’m happy enough with how it turned out, the colours are only supposed to be a representation and I’m new to mixing from the primaries anyway.

My first acrylic painting a few weeks ago was just white on black, just to get a feel for how acrylic paint works.  The quick drying nature of this paint makes it dry almost instantly outside, may as well be painting with coloured superglue ๐Ÿ˜†

Enjoying it the acrylic process though – the quick dry (when indoors) is good because I’m an impatient painter so on this small scale it’s ideal.  Leave for a few seconds then put on the next layer.

Also, being able to layer light over dark is definitely more flexible than with the usual watercolour.  Still love doing watercolour but it’s good to have this option now.

    • Glad you think so Michael.

I wouldn’t say it’s consistently better but as an average I’d say that I can see improvements coming along. It’s no coincidence that the luckier I get with the results is directly proportional to the hours I put in ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think yours also, the portraits, have come along in the couple of years we’ve known each other.

Here’s to the collective improvement ๐Ÿป
